A: The simple answer is yes. The seamoss found in Saint Lucia is scientifically known as Eucheuma cottonii** which is a type of seaweed; while seaweed covers a wide range of marine algae there are three classes: brown algae (Phaeophyta), red algae (Rhodophyta), and green algae (Chlorophyta). Eucheuma is a genus of red algae (Rhodophyta)
